Job summary

The MLS II performs and interprets standard, complex, and specialized tests, ensures quality control, troubleshoots instruments, and participates in procedure development under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Clinical Laboratory Science program from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• Clinical laboratory experience.
• Current nationally recognized certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepares clear, accurate reports of test results and examinations for patient treatment decisions.
• Performs a full range of laboratory procedures within the blood bank scope.
• Participates in development and evaluation of new procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintains competency and stays updated with current literature and regulations.
• Troubleshoots instrument issues and ensures proper laboratory operation.
• Performs routine and specialized testing with appropriate quality control.
• Supports colleagues with tasks and performs miscellaneous duties as requested.
