Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the second shift (evenings) in the United States. You will manage instruments, supplies and equipment before, during, and after procedures and maintain sterile technique to support patient care across multiple service lines.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in surgical technology and at least 6 months of OR experience, or equivalent education.

Qualifications

• 6 months OR surgical technologist experience or equivalent education.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program may be used in lieu of experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sterile technique and instrument handling.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure as per preference card.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique and reports any compromise promptly.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies and equipment before patient entry.
• Makes and labels medications under RN Circulator supervision.
• Performs counts with the RN Circulator prior to operation and before incision closure.
• Hands instruments to the surgeon and assists with tasks as directed during the operation.
• Assists with patient positioning and wound closure per CFA duties.
• Restocks room and maintains supply organization throughout the shift.
• Follows department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Participates in clinical education activities and orientation of new staff.
