Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Surgery Main OR in Topeka, KS. This full-time evening shift requires maintaining a sterile field, preparing instruments, and assisting surgeons across multiple service lines. Strong OR experience and CST/AST preferred, with emphasis on teamwork and patient safety.

The role supports a busy OR schedule in cardiovascular, general, robotics, orthopedics, and other specialties, with on-call readiness and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program; 6 months surgical tech experience may substitute education.
• Minimum 6 months recent surgical technologist OR experience required.
• Certification as CST/AST or NBSTSA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure and anticipate needs of the surgeon.
• Maintain sterile technique and report any breaches immediately.
• Set up sterile table with instruments and supplies prior to patient entry.
• Assist during the operation by handing instruments, retractors, and suturing as directed.
• Position patient and apply dressings post-operation; document and report as needed.
