Akron Children's is seeking a Part-time Patient Access Service Representative to perform initial contact for admitting services, emergency department, and outpatient registration duties. The role supports accurate data collection and patient enrollment processes in a busy hospital setting.

The position emphasizes verification of insurance, completion of demographic records, and release of patient IDs while ensuring respectful, dignified patient interactions across all ages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in medical registration, insurance verification, patient accounts or customer service.
• Healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
• MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial contact for patient access admitting services, ED and outpatient registration.
• Processes medical records discharges and retrieves records as applicable.
• Registers social, demographic and financial information to create patient records.
• Obtains necessary signatures to treat the patient and bill insurance.
• Prepares forms and patient ID cards.
• Confirms financial eligibility where applicable.
• Processes patient records and financial folders.
• Maintains cash flow of payments and daily deposits.
• Other duties as required.
