Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the Central Processing area. This role performs routine processing of laboratory specimens, accessioning, and preparation tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

The position supports patient care by ensuring timely handling of specimens, maintaining records, and adhering to safety policies. Evening and weekend coverage is required, with a 24-hour shift pattern and a signing bonus possibility discussed during interviews.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with familiarity in data entry and medical terminology.
• Equivalency may substitute education/experience to meet responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens including receiving and labeling.
• Log and assign accession numbers to specimens and requisitions.
• Prepare reagents, slides, and perform basic lab duties as assigned.
• Assist with inventory and ensure proper documentation and safety compliance.
