Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an experienced laboratory technician to perform routine and complex tests across departments, providing physicians with rapid, accurate results. The role requires an associate degree and may require ASCP certification.

You will handle specimen integrity, equipment setup, calibration, and quality control in a high-volume clinical lab environment. The position is non-exempt, with an evening 3pm-11pm shift and every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited program.
• MLT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Professional knowledge of medical technology principles and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab tests across major areas per CLIA to aid diagnosis and treatment.
• Assess specimen acceptability and maintain integrity throughout testing.
• Set up and maintain laboratory equipment; document maintenance procedures.
• Operate instrumentation to ensure accurate patient results and calibrate per procedures.
• Troubleshoot instruments, report unusual results, and assist with inspections.
