Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Lab Lead Technician, Specimen Management to guide evening and night shift operations in the Core Laboratory. You will oversee receiving, processing, and routing of specimens, while coaching staff and ensuring quality & safety during a period of automation transformation.

The role blends hands-on lab work with leadership, offering growth opportunities and a critical influence on workflow redesign and multi-site service planning.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) required or related an/other specified options, with chemistry and biology coursework.
• ASCP certification within 24 months or military experience equivalent to ASCP.
• Leadership and hands-on specimen processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee evening and night shift specimen receiving and processing operations in the Core Lab.
• Receive, accession, process, centrifuge, aliquot, and route specimens to testing destinations.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support for lab staff.
