UVA Health in Charlottesville seeks a Lab Lead Technician, Specimen Management, to oversee evening and night shift specimen receiving, processing, and routing within the Core Laboratory. This hands-on leadership role combines direct bench work with team guidance to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

You will mentor staff, implement workflow improvements during a major automation rebuild, train new team members, and coordinate cross-shift activities to support a seamless laboratory operation.

Competenze

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent.
• ASCP certification within 24 months.
• Bachelor’s in Biology/Chemistry or related science required as an alternate path.

Mansioni

• Oversee evening and night shift specimen receiving and processing operations.
• Coordinate accessioning, processing, centrifuging, aliquoting, and routing of specimens.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support for laboratory staff.
• Train new team members and reinforce best practices for quality and safety.
• Monitor work quality and help prevent, identify, and correct processing errors.
• Serve as key decision-maker for evening shift workflow management.
• Support continuity during major laboratory transformation initiatives.
• Develop and implement manual workflows during automation transitions.
• Collaborate across shifts to communicate process changes and priorities.
• Prepare operations for future multi-site service models.
