Job summary

Central Virginia Community College is seeking a part-time Computer Operations Technician to support IT tasks during the evening shift (12pm–7pm). The role involves user assistance, hardware and software maintenance, AV setup, and documentation to streamline IT workflows.

You will join the IT team and help with lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and project tasks, reporting issues and ensuring efficient service delivery to staff and students.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of installation, planning, repair and maintenance of computers and desktop software including Microsoft Office and AV equipment.
• Familiarity with local area networks.
• Troubleshooting methods and diagnostic tools/equipment.
• Experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to install, configure, integrate, upgrade and maintain computer hardware/software.
• Ability to perform inventory control.
• Effective oral and written communication with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Respond to information technology work requests focusing on routine user assistance and hardware/software support.
• Install computers and peripherals and perform routine software upgrades.
• Document problem resolution/status and forward complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Assist with lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and AV setup as part of IT projects.
• Develop user tips, instructions, and procedures to streamline tasks.
• Work as a team member to support IT staff and coordinate IT tasks.
