Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for an inpatient unit in Worcester, MA. The role provides essential patient support under clinician direction, including daily living activities, vital signs, and basic monitoring in a high‑demand environment.

The position requires strong communication, basic clinical knowledge, and BLS certification; a comprehensive benefits package and a team‑oriented culture are offered. Evening shifts and 32 hours per week are available.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills required in patient care tasks.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under licensed clinician direction, including daily living activities and safety.
• Communicate observations to the RN regarding patient changes and vital signs.
• Assist with turning, positioning, lifting, and transporting patients using proper body mechanics.
• Take and record vital signs, heights, weights, and perform basic monitoring (EKG, POC tests).
• Support patient comfort, nutrition, intake, and ostomy or drain management as needed.
• Maintain a safe environment and respond to emergencies per hospital policies.
