Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support the care team in a 32-hour evening schedule (8-hour shifts) within a hospital setting in Central Massachusetts. The role emphasizes patient safety, communication with registered nurses, and assistance with daily living activities.

The candidate will perform basic patient care tasks, monitor vital signs, and participate in unit procedures under licensed clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment and helps de-escalate patients when needed.
• Assists patient with daily living activities such as hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using safe techniques.
• Maintains patient safety by performing safety checks and following restraint policies when applicable.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures height/weight.
