Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Patient Care Technician I to join our care team in Worcester, MA. Under licensed clinicians, you will provide patient care, assist with daily living activities, and support vital sign monitoring and specimen handling.

The role emphasizes clear communication with RNs, maintaining patient safety, and delivering compassionate, culturally sensitive care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of licensed clinicians and assist the healthcare team.
• Communicate clearly with the RN about patient observations and changes.
• Monitor high-risk patients and help maintain a safe environment.
• Assist with daily living activities, mobility, and nourishment.
• Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and perform basic tests as appropriate.
• Assist with treatments and procedures and prepare equipment as needed.
• Respectfully communicate with patients, families, and staff, demonstrating professionalism.
