Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States seeks a Housing Support Technician for the Unity House Temp Shelter in Louisville, KY. The role covers the 2nd shift (4p–12a) and is part-time, hourly, non-exempt.

You will monitor safety and security, support residents, assist with intake and front desk operations, and collaborate with the Housing Support Technician Supervisor. Prior homeless services experience and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years post-secondary education preferred.
• Prior experience in a residential homeless program required.
• Knowledge/Experience working with individuals in crisis/low-income preferred.
• Must have valid KY ID; CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Criminal Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational control of the facility in the absence of senior staff (including holiday coverage).
• Oversee front desk operations: answer phones, provide referrals, monitor cameras, process intakes, assist with client requests, monitor front door and client medication, crisis intervention, etc.
• Ensure clients comply with VOA policies and house rules.
• Maintain chronological written records of events.
• Maintain client sign-in/sign-out log.
• Assist with drug screenings as assigned.
• Assist with completing initial intake paperwork with new families.
• Direct volunteers and training as assigned.
• Conduct hourly walk-throughs of the facility and grounds.
