Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Housing Support Technician to assist in the Family Emergency Shelter - Unity House program in Louisville, KY. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt role focused on safety, security, and smooth operation of homeless residential services.

You will manage front desk tasks, assist with intakes, support volunteers, monitor clients, document events, and participate in team meetings while upholding VOA policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of post-secondary education preferred.
• Prior experience in a residential homeless program or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with individuals in crisis/low-income preferred.
• Must have valid KY ID; CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment; pass Criminal Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational control of the facility in the absence of senior staff (including holiday coverage).
• Oversee front desk operations: answering phone, providing referrals, monitoring cameras, handling intakes, assisting clients, monitoring front door, client medications, crisis intervention.
• Ensure client compliance with VOA policies and house rules.
• Maintain chronological written records of shift events and client sign-in/out.
