Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Housing Support Technician for the 2nd shift (4p–12a) in Louisville, KY. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt role focuses on safety and security, supporting homeless residential programs, and providing essential services to residents within Unity House Temp Shelter.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with two years of post-secondary education preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of post-secondary education preferred.
• Prior experience in a residential homeless (or equivalent) program is required.
• Knowledge/Experience working with individuals in crisis/low-income preferred.
• Must have valid KY ID; CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment; pass Criminal Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational control of the facility in the absence of senior staff, including holidays.
• Oversee front desk operations and intake referrals, monitor cameras, assist with client requests.
• Ensure client compliance with VOA policies and house rules.
• Maintain chronological written records of shift events and client sign-ins/outs.
• Assist with Drug Screenings and initial intake paperwork for new families.
• Assist with supplies and restrooms, and prepare the facility for tours.
• Supervise volunteers and provide on-site guidance during shifts.
• Perform hourly facility walk-throughs to monitor residents and safety.
