Job summary

HomeFirst in San Jose seeks a Resident Advocate for swing shift to oversee on-site operations and respond to program participants' needs, including access to clinical services, workshops, laundry supplies, and food services. This role focuses on ensuring essential needs are met and safety through regular check-ins and monitoring of site grounds and sleeping units.

You will document services in HMIS, assist with intake, and help participants develop personalized housing plans while coordinating

Qualifications

• AA degree/2 years of higher education or two years of field experience in social services
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals
• Experience working with unhoused population

Responsibilities

• Care, safety and supervision of program participants
• Document services in HMIS within 3 business days
• Complete intake and assessments for participants (VI-SPDAT)
• Develop and update housing plans with participants
• Lead weekly on-site workshops (financial literacy, tenant rights, job search)
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
• Respond to guest crises using de-escalation techniques
