Job summary

HomeFirst is seeking a Resident Advocate for the Cerone Swing shift in San Jose. The role focuses on on-site support for adults experiencing homelessness, ensuring safety, service access, and housing plan progress. Reports to the Program Manager and works full time across day/swing/grave shifts.

The ideal candidate will engage with participants, operate HMIS, and support workshops and safety protocols while upholding HomeFirst values and service standards.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or equivalent of 2 years of higher education) required.
• Sensitivity to the needs of unhoused individuals.
• Experience working with unhoused population is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct Service responsibilities including care, safety and supervision of program participants.
• Enforce EIH guidelines and site rules.
• Check guests in/out using HMIS and document services within 3 business days.
• Complete intake and VI-SPDAT assessments; assist with housing plans.
• Provide workshops and crisis de-escalation as needed.
• Maintain incident reports and program paperwork; ensure safety and order on site.
