Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is hiring for a Registration Services role. You will obtain and verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and authorizations, and schedule Radiology/Lab appointments. The position requires strong data entry and customer service skills with attention to detail.

This is a full-time, on-site role with a 3:00 PM–11:30 PM schedule. Training will occur on-site, with after-hours coverage and weekend rotation as described.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1–2 years of data entry experience.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must have computer skills that include use of Windows and the ability to navigate.
• Strong customer service skills both verbal and written; with a variety of internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a high volume, team-oriented environment.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters demographic, insurance and other related patient information into the computer-based patient registration/scheduling system.
• Ensures all patient and/or witness signatures are collected on appropriate paperwork such as HIPAA, Consent to Treat, etc.
• Obtains and verifies patient insurance coverage and follows guidelines established by insurers for pre-authorization and referrals.
• Verifies workman's compensation and automobile coverage when required.
• Schedules and/or arranges Radiology, Lab and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Performs bed control, transfers, discharges, and admissions tasks.
• Collects patient liabilities including deductibles, copays, coinsurances and balances as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate records, logs, files and related information.
