Job summary

Duke HomeCare and Hospice is seeking a dedicated RN for an evening shift providing hospice care in patient homes across central NC. You will assess, treat, and support patients and families to ensure comfort and dignity at the end of life.

The role requires an active NC RN license, hospice experience, and strong assessment and communication skills. A valid driver’s license and compliance with safety standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN encouraged after two years of service.
• Current RN license in North Carolina or compact state.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Hospice experience required for this evening shift position.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance coverage.
• Two years of med-surgical, critical care, home health, or hospice experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work independently in home settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional hospice nursing care in home or alternate settings in accordance with North Carolina nursing regulations and agency standards.
• Assess patient conditions, manage symptoms, and communicate significant changes to physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Educate patients and families on disease progression, medications, and end-of-life care to promote comfort and understanding.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, support discharge planning, and ensure quality outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
