Job summary

The University Guest House & Conference Center seeks a part-time Facilities/Maintenance Technician I to join our facilities team on the University of Utah campus. This entry-level role supports basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and room preparation across guest rooms, public spaces, and conference facilities.

No prior maintenance experience is required; training will cover procedures, safe tool use, and how to escalate issues.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can substitute for 1 year of related work experience.
• Entry-level position; little to no related experience required.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Valid Utah driver’s license preferred or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, conference facilities, and public spaces.
• Assist with basic plumbing, lighting, doors, locks, appliances, carpentry, drywall, painting, and HVAC tasks after training.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks and inspections per schedule.
• Respond promptly to guest and employee maintenance requests with professionalism.
