Job Summary

The University Guest House & Conference Center is seeking a Facilities/Maintenance Technician II to join our Facilities team. As the hotel and conference center on the University of Utah campus, we are committed to providing exceptional guest experiences through safe, reliable, and well-maintained facilities.

This intermediate-level maintenance position performs routine and moderately complex repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of building systems, guest rooms, public spaces, conference facilities, and related equipment throughout spaces managed by the University Guest House & Conference Center. The Facilities/Maintenance Technician II performs basic maintenance and repairs in multiple trade areas, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance, with guidance provided for more complex or specialized work.

This position is expected to complete routine maintenance and common repairs independently while working with more experienced technicians, supervisors, vendors, or contractors when addressing complex repairs or specialized building systems.

The position regularly collaborates with other maintenance team members and department staff to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and guest-ready. Candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a team while also managing assigned tasks with limited supervision.

In addition to working in a unique hospitality environment, employees enjoy the benefits of University of Utah employment, including generous retirement contributions, affordable health insurance options, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave accruals, tuition reduction opportunities for employees and eligible family members, paid parental leave, and a free UTA transit pass.
