Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking an entry-level Facilities Maintenance Assistant to support preventative maintenance and work orders in the University Union building on campus. You will help set up and take down events and ensure spaces are ready for daily activities.

The role involves routine maintenance, event support, and light cleaning, with training provided. Candidates should be able to lift, operate maintenance equipment, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain strong customer

Qualifications

Six months experience equivalency (6 months education can substitute for one year of related work experience) preferred.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and stooping; ability to use a variety of equipment; commitment to providing excellent customer service; and a valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to keep facilities, equipment, and work areas in good working condition.
Complete facility work orders, including basic repairs, cleaning, and maintenance activities as assigned.
Prepares meeting spaces for daily events, including planning, set-up, and takedown.
Sets up chairs, tables, and other equipment or supplies as needed for events.
Provides incidental services related to events, such as garbage removal or cleaning.
May be responsible for unloading equipment or supplies.
