Job summary

The role covers general trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and requires the ability to work on-call rotations with 24-hour coverage for Housing facilities. This position emphasizes safe, clean, and functional living environments for residents.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement allowing higher education to substitute for related work experience.
• Minimum 1 year of related maintenance experience for Technician II.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders or scaffolding.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with maintenance management systems or electronic work orders is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and repairs on housing facilities, equipment, and furnishings.
• Assists in installation, repair, and upkeep of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
• Conducts regular inspections and identifies maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Completes work orders and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintains tools, materials, and equipment in good working condition.
• Ensures compliance with university safety standards, procedures, and codes.
• Provides excellent customer service to residents and university staff.
• Participates in after-hours or emergency on-call rotations.
