Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' New England Veterinary Center & Cancer Center in Windsor, CT is seeking an Emergency Vet Assistant (2nd Shift) to support veterinarians and technicians by preparing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, performing feeding, grooming, and clerical tasks, and ensuring care quality.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience (ER preferred).
• Strong phlebotomy, catheter placement, and nursing skills.
• Comfort with fast-paced, emotionally charged situations.
• In the absence of significant experience, a good attitude and willingness to learn are valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh and take vital signs on arrival.
• Triage patients, perform exams, treatments, and administer meds as directed by LVTs.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors with medications and restraints.
• Perform lab tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and document procedures.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness and plans.
