PetVet Care Centers' New England Veterinary Center & Cancer Center in Windsor, Connecticut is seeking an Emergency Vet Assistant (2nd Shift) to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including preparing surgery suites, restraining patients, and assisting with medications.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience; ER experience preferred
• Strong phlebotomy, catheter placement, and nursing skills
• Comfort with fast-paced, emotionally charged situations
• Kindness, teamwork, and a steady, supportive presence

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and owners, record weights and vital signs
• Triages and assists with exams, treatments, and medication administration
• Calm and soothe anxious patients
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, pumps, scales, monitors)
• Document medications and maintain controlled drug records
• Educate clients about wellness and insurance plans
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety protocols
• Bathed and groomed overnight patients; ensure proper release
• Maintain accurate medical records and daily operations
• Support hospital products and services; respond to directions promptly
• Carry out other duties as assigned by management
