Job summary

The University Unions at UT Austin is seeking a full-time Building Attendant II on the UT Main Campus to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors in the evenings. The role includes floor care, restroom sanitation, event setup, routine custodial duties, and adherence to safety procedures; starting Nov 2026, with a 40-hour week and a background check.

This position requires flexibility for occasional weekends and special events, plus the ability to lift

Qualifications

• Six months or more of experience in custodial services, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse operations, production, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions, including work orders, product labels, and safety procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of areas immediately surrounding the facility.
• Perform floor care duties, including carpet shampooing, floor scrubbing, stripping, and finishing.
• Clean, sanitize, restock, and maintain restrooms throughout the facility.
• Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, events, and other scheduled activities.
• Perform routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal throughout the facility.
• Follow established procedures, work assignments, and instructions provided by building supervisors.
• Properly use cleaning products, supplies, and custodial equipment while following established safety procedures and protocols.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by building supervisors.
