An established specialty contractor in Florida is seeking an experienced Estimator with a background in commercial doors, frames and hardware. You will own the estimating process, prepare detailed takeoffs, and develop competitive bid proposals for the Florida operation.

Role requires strong Comsense and Division 08 experience and the ability to work with a wider pre-construction team in Texas, while managing multiple bids with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Five+ years estimating experience in Division 08 and commercial doors/frames/hardware.
• Experience reviewing drawings, specs, addenda and bid documents.
• Proficiency with Comsense for pricing and schedules.

An established specialty construction contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Estimator with a background in commercial doors, frames and hardware to support its Florida operation.

The company supplies and installs specialist building products for commercial construction projects, working closely with general contractors and other construction partners.

This is an opportunity for an estimator who can take ownership of the estimating process, produce accurate and competitive bids, and work independently within a satellite office.

Strong Comsense and Division 08 experience are particularly important, as the successful candidate will need to manage estimates with support from a wider pre-construction team based in Texas.

The Opportunity

You’ll play an important role in supporting the Florida operation, taking responsibility for estimates from the initial review of drawings and specifications through to bid submission and project handover.

The position would suit an experienced estimator who is comfortable working with limited day-to-day supervision, managing multiple deadlines and communicating with customers and suppliers.

For someone with strong estimating and sales experience, there may also be opportunities to contribute to customer relationships and support the development of business across Florida.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, addenda and bid documents to establish project scope.
• Completing detailed quantity takeoffs for doors, frames, finish hardware and associated products.
• Developing hardware schedules and preparing pricing using Comsense.
• Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations to establish accurate material costs.
• Estimating installation labour and associated project costs.
• Preparing competitive bid proposals with clear inclusions, exclusions and clarifications.
• Submitting bids to general contractors and following up on tender outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate records of bid activity, pricing and awarded projects.
• Identifying value-engineering opportunities and alternative product solutions.
• Coordinating with project management to ensure awarded projects are handed over with accurate scope and cost information.
• Building and maintaining relationships with general contractors, architects, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Managing multiple bids independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

• At least five years of relevant estimating experience, ideally in Division 08, commercial doors, frames and hardware.
• Strong practical experience using Comsense.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Experience completing quantity takeoffs, developing hardware schedules and pricing materials.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar takeoff software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
• The ability to work independently, manage multiple bids and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

Customer-facing experience with general contractors, architects, suppliers or other construction clients is preferred.

Candidates with strong Division 08 and Comsense experience will also be considered if their background has been primarily technical rather than customer-facing.

DHI or AHC certification would be advantageous but is not essential.
