Job summary

The Hatched Recruitment Group has partnered with a specialty construction contractor to recruit an Estimator with experience in commercial doors, frames and hardware to support its growing project workload.

You’ll review architectural drawings, prepare quantity takeoffs for doors and hardware, develop hardware schedules and pricing using Comsense, and help deliver competitive bids across multiple projects. Strong Excel and Bluebeam skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience within commercial construction, ideally involving Division 08, doors, frames and hardware.
• Experience using Comsense is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, material pricing and cost analysis.
• Familiarity with estimating tools such as Bluebeam and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Professional communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Candidates with experience working directly with general contractors, architects and suppliers will be particularly attractive.
• DHI or AHC certification would be advantageous but is not essential.

• Developing hardware schedules and preparing pricing using Comsense.
• Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotations to establish accurate material costs.
• Estimating installation labour and associated project costs.
• Preparing clear and competitive bid proposals, including inclusions, exclusions and clarifications.
• Submitting bids to general contractors and following up on tender outcomes.
• Maintaining accurate records of estimates, bid activity and awarded projects.
• Identifying value-engineering opportunities and alternative product solutions where appropriate.
• Coordinating with project management to ensure awarded projects are handed over with accurate scope and cost information.
• Building effective working relationships with general contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Managing multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

An established specialty construction contractor is looking to recruit an Estimator with experience in commercial doors, frames and hardware to support its growing project workload.

The company supplies and installs specialist building products for commercial construction projects, working with general contractors and other construction partners to deliver projects from pre-construction through to installation.

This is an opportunity for someone with estimating experience who understands architectural drawings, can develop accurate material and installation costs, and knows how to produce competitive bids. Experience using Comsense is particularly valuable.

The Opportunity

You’ll join an established operation where you can apply your estimating experience across a range of commercial construction projects. Working alongside the wider pre-construction and project teams, you’ll help develop accurate estimates, manage bid deadlines and ensure projects are priced competitively and handed over effectively.
