Job summary

WSP’s Salt Lake City, UT office is seeking an ESSP Electrical Engineer to contribute to electrical studies, SCADA and protection work. You will engage in projects involving conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission systems, with opportunities to specialize.

The role requires a BSEE or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program and 3–5 years of relevant design experience.

Qualifications

  • BSEE (or ABET-equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 3–5 years of industry experience in design or device configuration in electrical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and project-related issues.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies, SCADA, and protection work for ESSP projects.
  • Support power system planning studies and dynamic stability analyses.
  • Contribute to design studies including grounding, insulation coordination, and power quality.
  • Develop network/communication paths for RTUs, relays, HMIs, and PLCs; travel to sites as needed.
  • Write technical reports documenting analysis, findings, and conclusions.
  • Assist with risk assessment, work plan preparation, and field coordination.
