Job summary

WSP is seeking an ESSP Electrical Engineer for our Denver, CO office to work on protective relaying, planning studies, and design studies within the ESSP team. You will apply three-phase power fundamentals to projects ranging from generation facilities to substations and distribution systems, and travel to project sites as needed.

A ABET-accredited engineering degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of industry experience in design or device configuration.
  • ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team on diverse projects.
  • Knowledge of three-phase power and basic power systems concepts.
  • Willingness to travel for project sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Protective relaying: short circuit analysis, coordination, and relay settings.
  • Power system planning studies: steady-state load flow and contingencies.
  • Design studies: grounding, insulation coordination, and transient analysis.
  • Networking and communications: RTUs, SCADA, and related protocols.
  • Logic and control schemes for power system equipment and testing.
  • Write technical reports documenting analyses and conclusions.
  • Assist with risk assessment, work planning, and field coordination.
  • Travel to project sites to support commissioning and testing.
