Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Doctor Coordinator in the United States. The role supports the emergency team with scheduling, patient flow, and direct doctor support during shifts. Strong communication and veterinary experience are required to thrive in a fast-paced ER environment.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency experience desired.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Directly supports specific doctor(s) for a given shift; may support different doctors within a department at different times
• Ensures follow through of departmental workflow for the supported doctor(s)
• Collaborates on scheduling of consults, transfers, and diagnostics
• Delegates team responsibilities as appropriate to team members
• Acts as point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries if doctor is unavailable
• Provides departmental client communication for cases (concerns, care plan discussions, Q&A in absence of doctor)
• Drafts medical record documentation for supported doctor(s) including initial patient history and treatment orders
• Monitors e-mails and voicemails for doctor(s)
• Assists with outpatient procedures as required by doctor(s)
• May escort clients and prepare/maintain exam rooms
• May mentor or train team members
• May coordinate and delegate prescription refills
