Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Doctor Coordinator to join a fast-growing network of practices. The role focuses on supporting doctors during shifts, coordinating workflows, and communicating with clients in a dynamic ER setting.

Ideal candidates have veterinary experience, strong calculation skills, and excellent communication. The position emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and compassionate patient care within a collaborative clinical team.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, doses, conversions).
• Able to work flexible hours including extra shifts when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly supports doctors for a given shift and may assist different doctors as needed.
• Ensures follow-through of departmental workflow for the supported doctor.
• Collaborates on scheduling consults, transfers and diagnostics.
• Delegates team responsibilities and mentors staff as appropriate.
• Acts as point of contact for referral partner transfers/inquiries when doctors are unavailable.
• Handles client communication for cases, including care plan discussions and Q&A in doctor absence.
• Drafts medical record documentation, gathers initial history and vital signs.
• Monitors emails and voicemails for doctors.
• Assists with outpatient procedures and prepares exam rooms as required.
• May coordinate and delegate prescription refills to team members.
