Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX seeks an ER Tech to provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive patient care in the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include collecting vital signs, assisting with patient activities, preparing patients for examinations, and maintaining a safe environment.

Applicants should have EMT program completion or be enrolled in nursing school, and hold or be eligible for AHA BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Collects, reports and documents data including vital signs, intake and output, and collected specimens.
• Performs Point of Care Testing and supports patient care as directed.
• Assists with patient activities and care per the plan of care.
• Maintains patient safety and confidentiality in a busy ED environment.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data. Takes vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collects specimens.
• Performs and reports Point of Care Testing.
• Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient’s plan of care.
• Provides for patients’ personal hygiene and assists with elimination and mobility.
