Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is expanding the Emergency Department at UAB Hospital and hiring nurses to join a large, busy team. The ED features new space, CT, X-ray, echo ultrasound, and teleadmission processes to support rapid patient care. Shifts include full-time and part-time AM and PM, weekends, with schedules from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

or 7 p.m.–7 a.m. Pay ranges from $30.00 to $48.00 per hour, plus robust education assistance, PTO, and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• AL RN licensure or eligibility required.
• BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days.
• ACLS and/or PALS may be required depending on unit.
• 3+ years nursing experience preferred.
• 2+ years in psychiatric/ED/correctional nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care following the nursing process and AACN guidelines.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, psychologists, and the health-care team.
• Provide health teaching and support to patients and families.
• Assist in assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
