Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Safety Observer in Massachusetts. The role focuses on continuous safety observation and assisting patients with daily activities as directed by nursing staff.

You will perform 15-minute safety checks, help transport patients when needed, and support the care team with light duties. A High School diploma is required, and CPR certification within 6 months is mandatory; prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR certification within 6 months of hire is required.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous safety observation of assigned patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as directed by nursing.
• Maintain 15-minute checks with documentation and ensure patient safety.
• Support transportation of patients as directed by licensed staff.
• Perform ancillary tasks as directed by nursing supervisor.
• Float between departments to assist patient care as needed.
• Maintain patient dignity and advocate for patients at all times.
