Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Patient Safety Observer to provide continuous safety observation and basic patient assistance. You will work within the care team to ensure patient safety, assist with activities of daily living, and document all observations for the licensed staff.

The role includes 15-minute checks, visitor monitoring, and potential transport duties as required. This non-exempt, full-time position requires a high school diploma and CPR certification within 6 months of hire;

Qualifications

• 1. High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2. CPR Certification within 6 months of hire.
• 3. Preferred: previous healthcare setting experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous safety observation of assigned patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as directed by nursing staff.
• Maintain 15-minute safety checks with documentation.
• Monitor visitors to prevent unsafe items from reaching patients.
• Follow directions of the licensed staff and assist with patient transport as needed.
• Engage with patients appropriately and document concerns in the care report.
