Job summary

FMOL Health seeks a Patient Access Representative 1 - ED to register patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including trauma, stroke, and other emergencies.

You will verify identity, collect ED-specific screening information, coordinate with ED nurses to ensure timely triage, verify insurance coverage, calculate and collect patient co-insurance and co-pays, and determine in-network vs out-of-network status post-stabilization.

Qualifications

• 1 year customer service experience or related certification.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong clerical, computer and communication skills; able to work under stress.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately for ED visits and emergencies.
• Verify identity, collect demographics, insurance, and authorization details.
• Coordinate trauma, stroke, and alerts to ensure timely triage.
• Explain forms, obtain signatures, and document encounters thoroughly.
• Collect payments and balance cash drawers; determine financial responsibilities.
• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and billing regulations.
