Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year customer service experience or related certification (e.g. Certified Coder, Certified Medical Assistant)
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Able to work in high-stress situations with professional appearance and behavior

Responsibilities

• Register patients presenting to the ED accurately and efficiently
• Validate patient identity and collect ED-specific screening information
• Coordinate with ED nurses to ensure timely triage and care
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations as needed
• Calculate and collect patient co-insurance/deductibles/co-pays
• Balance cash and document transactions in the registration system
• Explain forms and obtain signatures on hospital documents
• Maintain compliant registration with EMTALA, HIPAA and related laws
