Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient access representative responsible for scheduling, registration, and admitting functions at bedside. You will verify insurance data, collect balances, and ensure timely, accurate bill submission while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The role emphasizes strong communication, empathy for patients, and the ability to work under pressure in a high-acuity environment. Prior data entry and customer service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or 1–3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services, or demanding customer service environment
• Preferred: Medical terminology and insurance knowledge

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling, registration, and admitting functions at bedside and verifies insurance information
• Calculates estimates, collects liabilities, and processes payments in ADT/healthcare systems
• Delivers a positive patient experience and maintains confidentiality under HIPAA
• Acts as central resource for registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends, and holidays
