Job summary

Seattle YMCA is seeking part-time, onsite leads for our Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program. You will guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM and hands-on learning, supporting the supervisor and fostering teamwork and SEL while encouraging growth, creativity, physical activity, and fun.

BASE leads start 8/17 at various elementary locations; schedule includes mornings and after school, with additional Play Everyday support 2 days per week.YMCA benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• 2+ years of experience with children.
• Ability to model Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• 12 college credits (100-level+) or GED/high school diploma.
• Completion of minimum STARS training.
• CPR/First aid certification.
• TB tests and MMR vaccination; Concentra options available.
• Food worker card.
• Background check via MERIT.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the Y curriculum.
• Supervise a group of children to ensure health and safety and a positive experience.
• Guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities of groups of children.
• Communicate day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follow YMCA policies including medical, discipline, and emergency procedures.
• Maintain a developmentally appropriate site appearance, décor, and cleanliness.
• May prepare and serve snacks and clean the snack area.
• Assist at check-in/out for parents.
• Provide onsite support for school-based Play Everyday Program.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
