Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is hiring for a part-time onsite BASE program instructor. The role supports elementary students with enriching activities before and after school, emphasizing teamwork, social-emotional learning, and safe, engaging environments.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• 2+ years’ experience with children (camps, child care, tutoring, nannying).
• Ability to model Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty.
• Completion of minimum STARS training.
• Certification in CPR/First aid.
• Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination with Concentra options.
• Food worker card.
• Cleared Portable Background Check in MERIT.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities within the curriculum provided by the YDCoE.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety.
• May guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicates with parents/guardians about daily details.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary, and safety procedures.
• Maintains site appearance, decor, and cleanliness.
• May prepare and serve snacks and clean the snack area.
• Assists at check-in/check-out for parents.
• Assumes program operations in absence of qualified staff.
• Provides onsite support for Play Everyday Program at the school.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; performs other duties.
