Job summary

Tulsa Community College is seeking a grant‑funded Academic Advisor to support underrepresented students and promote academic success. You will provide advising for an identified caseload and track student progress toward retention and graduation goals.

Collaborating with Academic Advisement, Financial Aid, and faculty advisors, you will design programs and deliver coaching to help students complete their education while navigating college resources and personal development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, Human Relations, or Education.
• 1 year experience advising community college students.
• Ability to develop positive relationships with personnel at all levels.
• Experience advising community college students.
• Strong verbal and written communication with students, faculty, staff and the community.
• Ability to interact with duties with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally sensitive academic support to an identified caseload of students; assist with educational and career planning.
• Provide academic coaching to a caseload of students to monitor status each semester.
• Plan and implement student programming and high-impact practices to increase retention of underrepresented populations.
• Collaborate with Academic Advisement, Financial Aid, and Faculty Advisors to promote student success.
• Track student academic progress within the designated caseload.
• Communicate with caseload students at designated times each semester.
• Refer students to internal or community support services.
• Develop an individual action plan of success with academic and personal goals.
• Refer students to tutoring labs and faculty for support.
