Job summary

University of Central Oklahoma seeks an Academic Advisor I to provide comprehensive academic and career planning, mentoring, and coaching from admission to graduation. The role supports orientation, registration, assessments, and degree evaluations on a Monday–Friday in Edmond, OK.

You will guide students on schedules, majors, course loads, and study habits, contributing to retention and student success through proactive outreach and collaboration with campus departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field and 1+ years of related experience, or 3+ years of equivalent experience.
• Preferred: Master’s degree; 3+ years of prior academic advising/counseling.
• Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students regarding academic endeavors and planning.
• Complete degree evaluations and reviews for individuals and groups.
• Assist in development and implementation of student success and retention programs.
• Provide guidance on major/minor selections and course loads.
• Coordinate with departments to support academic advising and student persistence.
• Engage in outreach to support student achievement and growth.
