Job summary

Tulsa Community College is hiring an Academic Advisor to monitor a caseload of students and guide them toward retention and graduation. You will provide proactive advising, assist with financial aid, admissions, and enrollment processes, and coordinate with staff to remove barriers to enrollment.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work evenings. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with experience in higher education preferred.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to have positive relationships with personnel at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; some evenings required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Academic Advising Services for assigned program areas to an identified caseload of students, assisting them with educational and career planning.
  • Provide computerized degree audits to advisees.
  • Track student academic progress within the designated caseload/student population.
  • Communicate with a caseload of students at designated times each semester, focusing on student success, retention, and completion.
  • Refer students to academic support resources such as tutoring labs and faculty.
  • Refer students to personal support services either within the college or in the community.
  • Make recommendations to the financial aid office on whether coursework counts for Title IV aid.
  • Develop Academic Plans for students used to determine Title IV aid eligibility for at-risk students.
  • Initiate and process requests to adjust students' schedules manually according to TCC and state policy.
  • Accurately process requests to change student majors.

Job Summary

Monitor a caseload of students and track student progress in an effort to increase retention and completion rates while providing proactive advising services to at risk students. Meet and advise prospective students who do not have an assigned an advisor or students with time sensitive concerns. Advocate for students by collaborating with college staff and faculty to retain students through graduation and remove barriers to enrollment. Complete advising related tasks which facilitate financial aid, admissions, and enrollment processes.

Essential Duties
