Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures, and provide installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units.

Ideal candidates often have experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical work, etc.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Technical professional tasks, compliance, and continuous improvement (60%)
2. Customer focus and retention (30%)
3. Customer growth (10%)

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service customers in this territory, candidates must be based in California. Travel may be up to 20-30% as required.

Territory includes Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Woodland, Davis. You can live anywhere within this territory.

Responsibilities as an Equipment Service Technician

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Prioritize customer and business needs to complete PMs, service calls, warranty calls, installations, upgrades, and other duties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate issues, meet compliance requirements, and document troubleshooting processes.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options, and build relationships to drive customer experience and revenue opportunities.
• Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Required Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications or military experience in related areas are considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and credentialing requirements.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexible schedule with potential overnight stays and early/late hours.
• Ability to travel overnight up to 15%.
• Compliance with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.

*Note: Associates degrees or certifications, military experience, or related training may substitute for some experience.

Pay range: $63,000 - $73,000, based on experience and other factors. Compensation may include bonuses.
