Position Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment.

Individuals with experience working in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in one of the following states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska.

This is a floating position requiring heavy travel, up to 75%. Overnight travel Monday – Friday, including some weekends, is expected. Travel within Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska is required.

What You'll Do As An Equipment Service Technician

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs to complete PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrades, and other duties.
• Work with cross-functional teams to escalate issues, utilize technology platforms for compliance, and document troubleshooting.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
• Support multiple locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:

• High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications or military experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility for overnight and variable hours based on needs.
