Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Claim Counsel within Bond & Specialty Insurance to provide legal guidance and manage complex claims. You will investigate, analyze, and resolve claims with supervision while advising underwriting colleagues on coverage and strategy.

This role requires a JD and a license to practice law, with the ability to negotiate settlements, coordinate outside counsel, and travel for mediations and depositions. Teamwork and client-focused service are paramount.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Juris Doctorate Degree required.
• Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve BSI claims with supervision.
• Prepare and present reports reflecting loss development and exposure.
• Manage outside counsel with litigation plans and budgets.
• Communicate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Travel to mediations, depositions, and related events.
• Draft coverage opinions and negotiate settlements.
