Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Claim Counsel to join the Bond & Specialty Insurance team. You will analyze, investigate, and resolve claims with supervision, manage outside counsel and settlements, and prepare reports on exposure and loss development.

A law license is required, with ongoing CLE commitments. You will collaborate with underwriting and risk teams, review contracts, and support broker visits.

Qualifications

• One to five years of relevant legal or claim handling work experience.
• Ability to effectively resolve conflicts with a professional demeanor.
• Ability to make sound decisions and negotiate terms within designated authority.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve Bond & Specialty Claims of lower severity and complexity with close supervision.
• Retain, monitor, and manage outside counsel and vendors, negotiating settlements as appropriate.
• Prepare management reports on loss development, financial exposure, and resolution strategies with guidance from management.
• Develop and coordinate recovery efforts to optimize loss mitigation.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials, depositions to support claim resolution.
