Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Information Services (HCIS) seeks an Application Developer to analyze, design, implement, test, and support Epic Cadence (Scheduling) and Epic Referrals applications. The role collaborates with PMs, vendors, and end users to translate workflows into robust software solutions.

Responsibilities span analysis, design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support, including certification attainment and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance workflow processes, preferably healthcare, 3-5 years of experience for an Application Developer role
• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
• Experience contributing to an integrated information system implementation cycle through design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, testing, and support
• Experience working with application owners and/or vendors to define system requirements, integration requirements and understand business needs
• Demonstrated experience working with end-users to define system requirements, understand business needs and convert business requirements into functional/technical specifications for complex integrated systems build
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff

Responsibilities

• Analysis/Design: Research system solutions, collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze workflows and develop application design, create functional/technical specifications for system build
• Implementation: Configure and customize applications, review the application build for efficiency, develop and maintain testing scripts, perform unit and integrated testing, adhere to Change Management and IT Security policies
• Support and Maintenance: Complete Epic certifications, troubleshoot and fix issues, participate in 24x7 on-call rotations, document system design and build, travel to customer sites as needed, assess upgrades for new functionality
• Project Management: Create work plans and oversight for projects, monitor and report progress
• Business Analysis: Translate system and end user requests into business solutions, mentor staff and leadership in area of expertise
