Job summary

UCSF Health in San Francisco seeks an APeX Beaker Analyst (P2) to enhance and maintain Epic, Beaker CP/AP certifications, and collaborate with clinical operations across UCSF locations. The role emphasizes customer service, issue tracking, and cross-team collaboration within Health IT.

The candidate should have 1–2 years of LIS application build experience in a hospital setting and obtain Beaker certification within 6 months of hire. Prior UCSF exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
• One to two years of relevant work experience
• Working knowledge of clinical applications systems and functions, including development, implementation, user support, maintenance, and system testing and evaluation.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems and develop multiple options for effective and timely resolution of issues and problems.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer-service skills to collaborate productively on a team and to provide training and support to clinical providers and staff.
• Detail-oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, set schedules, and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey technical information to clinical users in a clear and concise manner.
• Working knowledge of departmental systems and procedures for documentation and reporting, with the ability to perform tests, analyze, and interpret relevant data.
• Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Applies acquired skills and professional clinical applications concepts for small to medium-sized projects of moderate scope. Operates independently within the defined scope of responsibilities.
• The APeX Beaker Analyst position will report directly to the APeX Beaker Team Lead/Supervisor and up through the APeX LIS Manager.
• The APeX Beaker P2 Analyst will work in collaboration with senior Beaker analysts, other APeX application teams, clinical/business operations, and guides to enhance and maintain the Epic electronic health record.
• The P2 analyst provides excellent customer service to end users, tracks issues, and follows up as appropriate.
